Our household loves this place. The falafel is the best in Vermont and the portions are quite large. Great chicken platters and wonderful sweets. Service and prices are spot on.

Tried this place for the first time last week. I am generally not a lover of Greek food, but I enjoyed my lunch here. I had the falafel special that came with fries. The falafel were moist and well seasoned, and the french fries were done well. My husband had the lamb Gyro and liked it as well. My only critique would be that when my party arrived, we were not sure if we were supposed to go in and order or if the waitress would attend to us at the table we chose outside. She did eventually come out to help us, but a sign asking to order inside or wait for a server would have been helpful.

We went there last night with another couple based on the wonderful write-up in Seven Days. We thought we were walking into the wrong door and did a double take. It looks nothing like the pictures in Seven Days. It was filthy, a table in the corner stock piled with boxes and junk. It was very odorous and filthy. We left. I had to give one star in order to leave a post.

This place reminds me of my dad's cooking. We're Egyptian, but eat very similar food. My boyfriend and I enjoyed the food so much! Everything was flavorful and inexpensive. We live around the corner so we'll definitely be back often!

Probably the only place you can get a good Pljeskavica in Vermont. In fact, I've never seen it anywhere else. The meshano meso/mixed grilled meats are decent as well. I have seen the gyros and by all accounts, it is probably the best in the Burlington area as well. I've spent a lot of time in the Balkans for work and the food there is quite amazing compared to what we eat on a daily basis here. So, if you miss good Balkan food. Check this place out. Probably the best you'll find in the State.

I've worked nearby for years and never noticed this place! Thanks, Yelpers, for bringing it to my attention. Popped by for lunch last week. I had a greek salad with chicken, and greedily also ordered some dolmades as a starter. YUM. Everything was tasty, fresh, and perfectly spiced. The pita bread was particularly delicious, very light and fluffy. It wasn't super expensive, good service, and served quickly. I've missed Mediterranean food in this little corner of VT - Cafe Mediterano definitely hits the spot, and I suspect I'll be going back pretty frequently!

I just went for the first time in years and couldn't believe how much it had changed. The inside used to be modern with unique international items which created an amazing dining experience. This time, there was a table piled high with office supplies and papers sprawled all over. The benches were gone and the international goods was more like a random mess of products. I was really disappointed by the inside, fortunately the outdoor area is a hidden gem. The food itself was good and the girl working was lovely. If I had to sit inside I don't know if I would dine here... Bring back the old upscale European charm! Also, they would do well at a farmers market or the food truck rally at arts riot on Fridays.

Best gyro in Chittenden co. Weird restaurant set up as there is a grocery store in back but the food is great. I always get the gyro felafel rice platter which has enough for 2 people if you eat normal portions.

Awesome gyro salads!! They are right beside Dominos in Essex a Junction -soo- if you are picking up junk food for the test of the family, pick up a sophisticated Gyro salad here for you!

One of our regular take out spots! Love the beef/lamb Gyros and falafel. What you get with the falafel varies based on who is making them, so make sure they included your pita and hummus! Haven't tried much else there, but they are a monthly stop for us as we live around the corner and I can't make them better at home!

My go-to place for when I want to treat myself. I always get the gyro, and I'm never disappointed. The price is under $10 and I can get two meals out of it. Fresh, delicious food, friendly service.

This is one of those places that you probably drive by every day and never even glance at. If it were not for the location I feel that Cafe Mediterano would be one of the most popular eateries in Essex. I go for the falafel, which is one of the best I've ever had. Due to the number of reviews touting how awesome the falafel is I won't go into detail because I would just be repeating what everyone else has said. I've tried several other menu items and have yet to be disappointed, though the falafel will always be my favorite. Cafe Mediterano unfortunately shares a parking lot with Domino's, which means that the parking lot is usually full with their customers. Also if you've never been here then you will probably drive past it if you are coming from five corners as it is hidden behind a row of trees. If however you do notice Cafe Mediterano, stop in, you won't regret it.

Unbelievable! I can't get over delicious the Gyros are. I've never had Mediterranean food, so I can't compare it to anything else but seriously.. So so so so good! I love how quaint the place is too.

Some friends and I had dinner at this little, unassuming cafe last week and it was an instant hit with all of us. I've driven past it many times without even noticing it was there, but once you're looking for it, it's not hard to find, in a little building with a Domino's Pizza shop and Verizon store. It doesn't look like much inside or out, but the service was very friendly and the food was very good. We all ordered the gyro pita (lamb and beef) and just one of those was plenty filling for me. Great flavors between the spiced meat, the pita and the tzatziki sauce. Because it was a beautiful evening, we sat outside in the small patio area. There's not much of a view here, but let's face it, in Vermont, "al fresco dining season" (read: summer) is short, so you have to take advantage of it whenever you can. The prices are incredibly reasonable, so if you're looking for a good meal on a budget, you can't go wrong here. You can also purchase a glass of wine or beer with your meal. So bonus points for that, too.

I stopped by here last night to grab what I would consider a much healthier option for when you're so hungry to the point that even Burger King sounds good to you. For just a couple of bucks more than a some preprocessed greasy value meal, I ordered the falafel plate and was not disappointed. The falafel was crispy and bite sized although a bit less spicy than what I'm used to. The rice was perfectly cooked with a hint of butter. The hummus was smooth and creamy and the tzini sauce was very tasty. I piled it all in to my warm soft gyro bread and indulged.

The best gyros in town. This has been the only place around the greater Burlingotn area to get a decent gyros. The meat is flavorful, crispy on the outside and is served with a very good tzatziki sauce. The best part the pits bread is grilled and served warm and crispy. The help here consists of the owner and I'm going to say his daughter as that what it appears to be. Besides the good flavorful food that is served at affordable prices is the owner's interest in seeing that his customers are always satisfied with their meal. When I was in there last week I had the gyros platter and a soda for $10.94. When I gave the girl my money and threw a modest tip in the jar the young woman said to me, " Thank you, you were the only one to tip this afternoon." I hope my fellow dinners andthe local IBM'ers that frequesnt this bistro aren't really that cheap and do tip the people here. They work hard, serve a good meal at affordable prices and by deserve a minimum gratutity.

I tried the falafel pita and my husband ordered the gyro. Both were excellent. The falafel wasn't overcooked, which tends to be an issue. The tzatziki sauce on both pitas was well-flavored and creamy, but not overpowering. A locally owned business - we're definitely going back there again, especially because good Greek food is very hard to find in the Burlington area!

The fiancee and I spotted this as we were driving from Burlington to Killington a few weeks ago, and it was a great surprise. The fiancee loved her falafel, and I loved my shawarma. A little on the pricey end for this type of food, but, considering the other quick lunch options around it, we were glad we stopped in.

Yes, this is probably the best place in larger Burlington area to get gyro/doner/shawrma (lamb or chicken). Really good Turkish style coffee, Bosnian pies and desserts. Inside the restaurant is a small grocery store (European chocolates - yay for Milka!! - biscuits, frozen Balkan meats, coffee, jams, spreads, drinks etc). They have a small outside seating area too.

Great combo platters and gyros! The owner Barney is awesome too! They have a good special that has a gyro, fries and drink for $9.

One of the few places to get a good gyro in the area, definitely a place to hit up when you get a craving. We went away very happy today.

Great casual place and great food and friendly prompt service. Even though all I get is the Gyro Wrap, I'm willing to bet everything on their menu is as good as the wrap. Burlington, VT may not have a whole lot of Greek inspired restaurants but these guys are truly representing. OPA!

Great food. Good attitudes. Quality place to stop in for a casual coffee, or an after-work Stella.
